Ýmir Grönvold - Between Mountain and Shore

  • Akureyri art museum 8 Kaupvangsstræti Akureyri, 600 Iceland (map)

Ýmir Grönvold works with painting, drawing, and found materials, exploring a wide range of themes in his practice—from Tarot and spiritual inquiry to landscapes and interpretations of nature.

His work draws inspiration from the natural world—mountains, waterfalls, the sea, wildlife, and plant life—often approached in a free and personal manner. Previous exhibitions have focused on transformation and interconnectedness, with particular attention to growth and movement within natural cycles.

“Milli fjalls og fjöru” translating to “Between Mountain and Shore” builds upon this foundation, examining the space between the fixed and the mutable—where natural processes, colors, and textures converge to create diverse visual meditations on transformation and connection.
